Founder, MASSIMODECARLO Gallery

Born in Milan in 1958, Massimo De Carlo spent his formative years in Padua, where early cultural interests - particularly experimental music - led him towards contemporary art. By the late 1970s and early 1980s, his interest in avant-garde art practices began to shape the way he worked, with a focus on experimentation and long-term commitment. In 1987, he founded his eponymous gallery in Milan, starting a career defined by close collaboration with artists and an independent approach to established models.Over nearly four decades, MASSIMODECARLO has become a key platform for international contemporary art, producing pioneering exhibitions within distinctive architectural spaces. Today, the gallery operates across Milan, London, Paris, Hong Kong and Seoul, working closely with artists and institutions. He has been a member of the Art Basel Hong Kong Selection Committee since 2013, and the gallery has been part of the Gallery Climate Coalition since 2022.
