Salvatore Arancio (1974, Catania) lives and works in London. Internationally recognized, his practice explores the potential of images and and how their meaning can be re-framed or re-viewed. His work has been presented in several international biennials including L’Esposizione D’Arte Internazionale, Biennale di Venezia in 2017; the BI-CITY Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture, in Shenzen, China, in 2020; the Biennale Ceramica – 60° Premio Faenza, MIC, Faenza, Italy, in 2018. Salvatore Arancio’s works are part of significant public collections including Museo Maxxi di Roma, MART- Rovereto, Museo Montelupo di Montelupo Fiorentino in Italy; Centre National des Arts Plastiques and Galeries Lafayette Foundation, Paris as well as FRAC-Artothèque at Nouvelle-Aquitaine in France; Museo Tamayo, Mexico City; Harris Museum, Preston, UK. Among the many exhibitions dedicated to the artist are those at Teylers Museum, Haarlem (2023); Museo della ceramica, Faenza (2023); Somerset House Trust, UK (2020); Whitechapel Gallery, London, (2018); Federica Schiavo Gallery Roma-Milano (2021; 2019; 2017; 2013; 2011); Kunsthalle Winterthur, (2016); Camden Arts Centre, London, (2015); Centre d’art contemporain La Halle des bouchers, Vienne (2015). Salvatore Arancio has been awarded with the Cantica 21 in 2021,the Italian Council Grant in 2018, The New York Prize in 2009 and has been selected for Bloomberg New Contemporaries in 2006.
