Kati Tuominen-Niittylä was born in 1947 in Helsinki and she currently lives in Pornainen, a small town 50km from the capital. Graduated at the Art and Design University of Helsinki, she has been working at the Arabia Ceramic Centre in Helsinki since 1980. In her works, Kati explores the concept of container, interpreting it with natural colours and timeless, clean lines. This allows her to rediscover the beauty of both simplicity and archaic forms. The surfaces, meticulously treated as a sort of meditative practice, recall the light and landscapes of the Nordic forests.
