Intermediate Course

The Intermediate Course aims to further develop the theoretical and practical skills previously acquired during the Foundation Course. Participants will be invited to present a proposal for the creation of functional, decorative or a sculptural ceramic object(s). Once the feasibility of each of the individual projects is verified in the first class, the course will proceed by defining the most suitable paths for their realization. The appropriate modeling techniques will then be used to create an object with a complex shape or a small collection. On the third lesson and starting from a pre-existing collection of glazes, the students will be shown different methods useful for the creation of ceramic coverings that can be applied in unique ways to their projects. The students will thus acquire new and advanced knowledge on the preparation and application of glazes and slips. The recipes, easily replicable for future creations, will expand the palette of colors and effects available to the future collections of each of the participants. At the end of the course, the consignment of the objects will come together with a certificate of participation. At the discretion of the teacher, the most interesting creations will be proposed to be published on Officine Saffi social media accounts.
